Nice book!
By Joe
I enjoyed the book from beginning into most of the end and it is the most recent text on Chinese musical instruments I’ve read. I found the pictures immediately captivating (the colors are vibrant and there is a combination of two and three dimensional perspectives) and the dialogue is informative and easy enough to follow. The book left me with a satisfying grounding for further discussion and inquiry about Chinese musical instruments and Chinese music history.

I would certainly recommend this book to anyone wanting to gain an adequate grounding in Chinese music history (for which to build upon) and the diversity and technical usage of instruments in the modern Chinese orchestra, all within an engaging, scholarly, and colorful package.
