Maureen Honey is Professor of English and Women's Studies at the University of Nebraska. She is the author of Creating Rosie the Riveter: Class, Gender, and Propaganda During World War II and Shadowed Dreams: Women's Poetry of the Harlem Renaissance.

Great poems by writers who are not readily available in anthologies. I admire the editor of this collection who brought their work to my attention. It takes a lot to understand what a woman living in America pre- civil right movements feels but this is a mirror to this time. What genuinely brilliant voices.
